Since the fall of 2017, I’ve been working on a project documenting homelessness in downtown Montreal. The project began as a collaboration among myself, homeless persons, and the Open-Door shelter. At the time the project began, the Open-Door Shelter was located at the former Anglican Church. The Shelter has since moved, and the Anglican church was sold to a private interest. The former Anglican church now remains empty, with its windows covered by wooden panels to prevent vandalism. I propose to attach pictures from my project with the homeless on the wooden panels now covering the church’s windows. The pictures will depict some of the people who relied on the homeless shelter for their daily survival, as well as the context of their daily lives.
